Home business owner, in need of a home

It’s going to be busy next week with 3 events lined up in London and the South East. I’ll be working from trains and hotel chains and looking for a wireless enabled roof to cover my head in a week that will test whether home business owners can work just as well when out on the road.

White rabbits and Skype phones

Do you know the phrase “Pinch, punch, first of the month, white rabbit.”?

It’s meant to be said to the first person you see on the first day of a new month (whilst gently pinching and punching them.) I’m going to resist this 'welcome in the new month' ritual on 1st July as the first person I’m likely to see is the man who heads up the business side of Skype; a company that I think is the bees knees of the telecom world. Skype is hosting a business breakfast next Tuesday and I’m delighted to be their guest speaker.

Croydon calls

On Wednesday night, I’ll be packing my bags and heading for Croydon where we have a ‘Spare Room Start Up’ event being held at Waterstones (Whitgift Centre) that’s been very ably organised by Croydon Business.

If you’re thinking of starting a business from home and live in Croydon, please come along. It’s showing all the signs of being quite a night. Contact Karen Fiagbe for details.

Think-tank Thursday

No events scheduled for Thursday but there is something exciting in store as we’re being interviewed by a think tank called Demos who are researching new ways of working and are interested in how home businesses are starting and growing. They tell me their research booklets are read by more than 20,000 people which is rather impressive. I hope some of those readers will be bitten by the home business bug as they read what a lovely way of working it is.

Lunching in Kent

What better way to finish the week than addressing an audience of 100 at Eastwell Manor in Kent. If you live in the area and are starting or growing a business from home, please come along! The lady to speak to is Alison Knight.

In between business breakfasts, country lunches and evening soirees, I’m going to be based at my favourite out-of-home-office space that is One Alfred Place. From there, I’ll upload your content and respond to your emails. Please be patient if I’m not as swift as usual. - Roaming Jones
