Home Business Roadtrip: North East, Tuesday 15th September

Angel of the North

02/09/2009 send to a friend

On Tuesday 15th September the crew will be in the North East. Starting with breakfast in a rural farm house/home office, the day unfolds with talk of pubs and Music Bugs . It ends with what looks set to be quite a get-together at Hoults Yard.

By day

Our first stop is to the doorstep of Malcolm Gallagher, business owner and creative brains behind Business Begins at 50; a product that’s proving popular with the growing number of people starting home businesses in their later (and some would say, most active!) years.

It’s then on to The Beresford Arms in Whalton to meet Stuart Mills, Founder of www.useyorlocal.com – a service that gets parcels delivered to your local pub and is tailor made for home business owners who are holding down a day job and building a business at nights and weekends.

The crew re-boards the touring car and it’s off to Newcastle to meet Heather Williamson who runs home business franchise, Music Bugs. Having launched 18 months ago, Heather now has over 150 children attending her musical classes each week. She’s in the process of recruiting 2 class leaders (both mums looking for part time work) as more classes are added throughout the year. This home business is run alongside taking care of a family of 3 children!

At night

Regional Development Agency, One North East, is supporting an evening meet-up that is being held at Hoults Yard and is open to anyone starting and growing a business from home. It’s free to attend.
