We're very excited to announce that our 2008 Home Business Awards are now open! We're on the look-out for the UK's best home businesses and this year's Awards are bigger and better than ever. There are more prizes - and new categories too. Read on to find out how you can enter!
New categories
Last year, we were blown away by the number and calibre of entries. Deciding on a winner was a difficult task! So this year we're adding three more categories:
- Home Business Couple of the Year
- Home Office of the Year
- Young Home Business Owner of the Year
Your entry will automatically put you in the running to win the title 'Home Business of the Year' but you can also tick a box to apply for any or all of our new categories.
Prizes
It's free to enter and winners will receive some amazing prizes. They include:
For the Home Business of the Year
- Your own virtual assistant, for 12 months, from Moneypenny UK
- Printing package, including printer and consumables, worth over £1,000 from Brother UK
- Accounting software, QuickBooks Pro, valued at £299.95
- Senseo coffee machine, plus coffee supplies, provided by Douwe Egberts
- 10 days of free access to private members club in London, One Alfred Place
For the Home Business Couple of the Year
- Two night, full-board stay at the luxury Cotswold Water Park Four Pillars Hotel
For the Home Office of the Year
- £200 of vouchers from home office specialist, Flujo
For the Young Home Business Owner of the Year
- £200 of online shopping vouchers from fashion website, OSOYOU
All winners will, of course, receive plenty of profile on Enterprise Nation and across our media partners, which include Travelguru.tv, mydeco and Make Your Mark, and free copies of our first book, Spare Room Start Up: How to start a business from home.
Judges
Joining me on the judging panel will be:
- Mark Barber, Enterprise Editor, The Times
- Rachel Clacher, co-founder, Moneypenny
- Tracy Vegro, Director of Enterprise Strategy at the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform
- Wendy Shand, Founder of Tots to Travel and the 2007 Home Business of the Year
How to enter
Entry to the competition is free and open to any home business in the UK. The closing date is Friday, August 15th and winners will be announced on Monday, September 1st.
All you have to do to enter is complete a form, which you can do online or in your own time by completing a Word document, both of which are linked to below.
Best of luck! - Emma Jones

Survey
Enterprise Nation is undertaking the largest ever survey of home businesses and we'd love you to help!
It'll only take a few minutes. Your responses won't be shared but they will paint a picture of just what's happening in entrepreneurial homes across the UK. The results will be written up in our 2008 Home Business Report, which will be free and available on the site in October.
