Company registration

When starting a business from home, there are three main legal company structures to choose from. Once you’ve chosen a structure, the business can then be registered.
Sole Trader
Being a sole trader is the simplest way to start and run a business. You keep records and accounts of your activity and, in acting alone, get to keep all the profits.
Partnership
If you’d like to be self-employed but want to work with a colleague, consider a partnership. With this structure, two or more people share the responsibilities of being in business – and the rewards!
Limited Company
Limited companies exist in their own right, with the company's finances distinct from the personal finances of the owners.
If in doubt, talk to an accountant about the structure that suits you best. Then register with Companies House and from here on, you’re in business!
