You spend a lot of time with your furniture in your home office, so it's important to select designs with which you feel comfortable. Several designers have recently been using cardboard in their designs aimed at offices as well as homes (Frank Gehry has been fiddling about with cardboard for years) and the results are impressive as well as ecofriendly.

A particularly intriguing example is from Pedro Gomes called Compact. It's made from cardboard and recycled polypropylene. 
It comes in an IKEA-like flatpack, assembles easily using wood glue and your hands. Paul Coudamy's design for ad agency Beast's office is also inspirational. He put together workspaces for 20 people using water-resistant honeycomb cardboard - yes, if you spill your coffee on 21st century cardboard furniture it doesn't wilt - using glue and sticky tape. Like Gomes's design, it's modular so it's easily rearrangeable.

On a bigger scale, Nothing's offices in Amsterdam (photos by Joachim Baan shows that the big boys of the business world are also getting in on the act.

But for examples of what's possible on a less futuristic level, have a look at the Karton-art site where their products include filing cabinets, desks, shelves, cabinets (and even a bed). These are straightforward but attractive designs that would look good in any home office.
